Hello,
This is the SadServers newsletter, presenting new challenges designed to improve your skills and grow your Linux and DevOps abilities.
New scenarios since the last newsletter:
- "Lyon": Migrate Ingress-NGINX to Traefik - Ingress-nginx has been deprecated in Kubernetes. In this realistic challenge you can practice replacing it with the Traefik alternative.
- "Porto": Port audit without net tools - this is more of a curiosity; see if you can figure out how to find what TCP ports are open without using the usual tooling (we show two options in the clues).
- "Stockholm": DNS health check issue - because there are never enough DNS scenarios, always good to get some troubleshooting practice on them :-)
- "Edinburgh": FTP catalog sync failure - challenge based on a real issue we had, although somehow wasn't quite able to reproduce and it turned out pretty simple but still, always good to practice on old technology that still powers things like, the whole financial system for ex ;-)
- "Sapporo": ephemeral tokens - here we look into the general problem in Linux of how to capture short-lived events and showing a possible solution (there are often more ways to solve a scenario than the one we suggest in the clues). Interesting if you've never come across this situation before.
- "Cordoba": df is lying (or is it du?) - a fairly classical or known situation, which is asked quite a bit in job interviews. Great for people more on the beginners side.
- "Tallinn": BuildKit & Docker build mismatch - showcasing a pretty common Docker issue in CI/CD pipelines.
New features:
- For the keyboard warriors who live in the terminal, we have released a CLI / TUI SadServers tool (Pro+ accounts only for now).
Other news:
- We have reached over 750,000 VMs (scenario sessions) created on AWS. We keep growing thanks to your support :-)
