Hello, this is the not-so-frequent SadServers.com newsletter.
Scenarios
There are three recent new scenarios:
Improvements
- For guided learning and exploratory purposes, SadServers offers now "resumable" VMs.
- This maillist system is now public so people can subscribe directly and see older messages. As before, I'm not doing any tracking on these emails.
- New scenarios include in the home directory a README.txt with the same information as in the website.
- All the scenarios texts: description, test (including check script) and clues (spoiler alert!) are available in the scenarios directory in the GitHub repository. Improvements to the wording or check script can be PR'ed.
- For specific issues that are more problematic than scenario wording or bugs/errors in the website (something broke), you can look at the issues in the GitHub repo as well, or you can open your own. These are items I'll be fixing.
- There are discussions now! There the community can discuss scenarios (alternative solutions etc), suggest ideas for new challenges or offer feedback in general. I've been replying to all email and often the suggestions are similar so open discussions seem more effective.
It may be confusing that there are three ways in GitHub to give feedback but in case of doubt, use discussions (also they can be turned into issues). You may want to "star" the repo ;-)
Other
There are new youtube videos of people going through the scenarios:
I created a Linux Roadmap because it was missing :-) , it's still work in progress.
What's next? The big-ish projects are mentioned in the Roadmap and besides that, there are many smaller improvements to do but my main focus is the same: to provide with a good user experience in the way of quality scenarios and simple web navigation.
Thanks,
Fernando
