Hello, this is the not-so-frequent SadServers.com newsletter.

 

Scenarios

There are three recent new scenarios:

• "Bucharest": connecting to Postgres (credit PykPyky), a simple scenario around PostgreSQL connectivity.
• "Bilbao": Basic Kubernetes Problems , a beginner's Kubernetes challenge.
• "Marrakech": Word Histogram , a pretty standard programming problem but it's fun to try and do it using Linux tools.

Improvements

• There's a scenario tag system now. I thought it would be useful for example to distinguish more standard and realistic problems from more fanciful/strange/unrealistic scenarios , let me know what you think.
• The main scenarios page will show the challenges that you tried and the ones you solved if you are logged in (this is a feature some of you requested).
• The user dashboard is now more compact and useful.

Other

As an end of year reflection, I want to thank all the people that supported SadServers in any way: giving feedback, buying "coffee", creating videos etc. I have big-ish plans for 2024 to keep materializing the vision of learning by doing realistic challenges and having fun.

Oh and how do I say this, there are paid plans coming at some point. They'll be aimed at companies doing training/events or job interviews and needing specific features.  Individuals using SadServers on their own will always have at least a subset of the service at no cost ("freemium" model).
